Salvator Fabris’s 1606 work Lo Schermo, overo Scienza D’Arme is well known in modern fencing practice for its exacting detail. But many students struggle to access the biomechanical advantages offered by the often extreme and occasionally silly postures portrayed in his text. This workshop will acquaint students with the mechanical goals of Fabris’s deep postures and help them achieve those goals in practical sparring without injurious strain on the body. All levels of experience and practical ability are welcome.
