Instructor: Joseph Brassey, Grit-City HEMA || Tacoma, WA
This class will take students through the concepts of Mutieren (mutating) and Duplieren (doubling) as expressed in Liechtenauer’s system, using them to demonstrate how to build reflexive responses to the bind that happens when an attacker’s first strike is parried. Focus will be on concepts of Vor, Indes, and Nach, with an emphasis on biomechanics, stance, and feeling an opponent’s pressure in the bind. This class will serve beginners and more experienced fencers equally well.
Requirements: Longsword trainer (Feder or blunt), steel preferred. Masks, gloves, and gorget.
